Lizzie King is the head horticulturist at the Charlemont, Kentucky estate of Easterly and has been for a number of years. There were more ups and downs in this book than a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. Let’s just say I was a little disappointed in this book. Being born and raised in Alabama, I am always interested in how people south of the Mason-Dixon line are portrayed in fiction. So, I was somewhat intrigued to see she was writing a contemporary romance based on southern characters. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood books and found them entertaining, but did not have quite the same enthusiasm as many of the fans of that series. ![]()

I think that what really drove this books is how different it was from other books about the end of the world. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started it.Īfter that, the tension just climbs and climbs, as humanity tries to survive. The book starts with the sentence “The Moon blew up without warning and for no apparent reason.” That is literally the first sentence in the book (so I don’t feel the need to hide it behind a spoiler tag).
